A Sumptuous Summer: Blanca at AAFW

Lost in the memories of summers spent in the European countryside, Blanca emerged at AAFW with Resort '24, A Sumptuous Summer.

Freedom bottled, youth contained and spontaneity welcomed.

Concertina-like dividers and Art Deco-inspired furniture – some robed, tied and perfectly contained – lined the runway. Upon unlocking the doors at the beginning of the season, each item is made fresh again with new life – a sense of unravelling and awakening.

Models wandered down the runway, sharing the story of this first foray into summer. Romance (a longed-for fling) is on the forecast; river swims, juice-soaked hands from the nearby orchards and never-ending aperitivo hours are inevitable. Prepare for a wardrobe that harnesses these tones – one completed with delicate sage, apricot, powder blue and cream.

The Highlights

Languid lines and versatile silhouettes keep us light-footed and lighthearted. Our feet barely touch the ground as we move through the grassy fields, stone courtyards and refreshingly silent hallways. (Is that the soft tinkle of a piano we hear in the background?).

Prepare to build your summer uniform on linen tailoring and relaxed oversized shirting. With separates designed to mix and match, await wide leg pants, slouchy blazers, maxi skirts and cropped tie-up tanks. Updates to signature shirt styles are primed for adding layers, playing with texture, pattern and colour (always). Now is the time for creativity to run free.

For flirty afternoons, embroidered mini dresses and lace-like sheers keep things comfortable but cute. And, as night falls, switch to fringed ensembles – a cosy knit kept nearby. This is the summer key: functional and fiercely feminine.  

A natural glow and gloss and loosely-hung hair complimented the models' looks (care of our fantastic makeup partner Mecca and exclusive hair partner Redken). 

The Blanca wearer isn't afraid to get dirty hands; for some of the most precious moments are crafted in the unexpected mess. Whether near or far, Resort '24 transports and transforms – curating a state of mind and a state of being that is above the mundane. It's unfettered pragmatism at its finest. 

The show concluded with a gorgeous gathering of models seated or standing around the artful furniture set: a party of sorts, right at home, awaiting their next tooth-picked olive and negroni. Join us in our dream.
