Exploring Rosa with Photographer Sophie Brockwell

We’re complex beings, the lot of us. Playing on this idea of many talents and many facets – spinning plates, balancing responsibilities – we introduce Rosa for SS24. Built from the sturdy Blanca foundations, explore life’s ebbs and flows with a burst of colour, a pop of print, and a taste of texture, always with comfort as the moreish appetiser. Floral short sleeve shirts (worn open or buttoned up, preppy or beach-ready), bold oversized blazers (all the better for getting things done), signature stripe shirts, a new era of ‘going out tops’ and more.

Hot on the heels of the collection’s release, we asked our much-loved external limb and fashion photographer, Sophie Brockwell, to take us on a style journey. Her favourite looks, photography tips and more below.

On her style evolution:

My style has remained fairly consistent over the years. I always gravitate towards classic, minimal pieces that I can wear over and over again. When I was younger, I was a little more playful, especially with accessories.

As I have gotten older I have learned to invest in pieces that I will keep for many years to come – quality over quantity.

On ‘you’ outfits:

Pairing simple, classic pieces with interesting accessories.

On high repeat items:

Vintage Levis, white ribbed cotton tank tops, oversized cotton shirts and my collection of sandals.

On staple looks:

While I’m working, my wardrobe stays pretty consistent - usually denim paired with cotton tanks, t-shirts or button-down shirts, and always sneakers or a pair of sandals.

When I’m not working I like to add in a few more silk pieces, either a long skirt or a looser trouser.

On pursuing photography:

I started taking photos of friends and places while I travelled. I became enamoured by the process, particularly shooting film. I love being able to work with an array of talented creatives and a variety of different brands. I feel most excited when I get to shoot a story on film, develop and print in the darkroom.

On sources of inspiration:

Contemporary art, films, literature, friends and collaborators.

On her favourite ‘Rosa’ piece:

The Jeanne Shirt! I own it in black, but would also love to have it in white. I have been wearing it on repeat this summer, open with a white cut-off Hanes tank, Jil Sander slip skirt and The Row chocolate slides.

On our weekend plans:

An afternoon swim at Tamarama followed by a glass of wine and a snack at Bar Copains.

Her hottest tip for budding photographers:

Educate yourself as much as possible through reading and research as well as experience. It can be difficult to get into, so don’t underestimate the value of self-education and hard work.
